EMMANUEL LAURENT
Emmanuel is an investment professional focusing on global alternative investments. During his career in investment management, Emmanuel has held positions on both the buy and sell sides.
Starting as a portfolio manager, he led in sales and business development and investment advisory to private and institutional investors. In 2011, Emmanuel started his own investment consultancy to support UHNWIs and institutional investors seeking to structure, manage, raise and deploy private internal capital.
Emmanuel’s mandates have included hundreds of millions of value across private equity, venture capital, real estate, tangible assets and other alternative investment strategies. He has 30 years of experience in alternative investments, and the family office and wealth management industries. Prior to joining Monument, Mr. Malloy served as a Managing Director and Principal of two multi-family offices firms: New York-based Massey Quick & Co., Inc., and Boston-based Shepherd Kaplan LLC.
In addition, Mr. Malloy was an initial investor in, and the Director of Business Strategy & Development for, WisdomTree Asset Management, Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer at TAG Associates, Senior Vice President of Oppenheimer & Co., and a member of Bear, Stearns & Co.’s Corporate and Executive Services Group. Rudolph Waels has worked in Europe and various Emerging Markets since 1996. He started his career with Arthur Andersen/Ernst & Young where he carried out various consulting, privatization, and restructuring projects across the world including Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia. Starting in 2004, he focused on private equity and direct investments in the Middle East and North Africa. He worked at Swicorp (Vice President), First Gulf Bank (Head of Private Equity), Aabar (Director of Investments), Armalia Partners (Managing Partner), ICD (Head of Direct Investments & Financing), and Excess Investments (CEO). Rudolph holds an MBA from the Wharton School, and is also a graduate of Paris Dauphine University. Dr. Mario Covo is a Senior Advisor with over 30 years of experience conducting business in Latin America and two decades managing investment firms.
Dr. Covo has served as a Director of the Board of Bladex since 1999 and as Chairman of Bladex Asset Management Inc. since its inception in 2008. Bladex is an NYSE-listed supranational bank established by the central banks of Latin America to promote trade finance. Based in Panama, its shareholders include international institutional investors as well as Central Banks and state-owned entities from 23 Latin American countries. Dr. Covo presently chairs the Credit Committee, has chaired the Asset/Liability Committee and has been a member of the Audit, Compensation and Nomination, and Business Committees. Bladex’s Board is comprised of Latin American CEO’s and high level government officials. Following a decade-long stint on Wall Street, Dr. Covo founded and managed three Investment Advisory businesses. He is presently the Managing Partner of Helios Advisors, which he co-founded in 2003; was founder, CEO, and Chairman of Finaccess International, Inc. in 2000; and was co-founder of Columbus Advisors in 1995. The latter two firms were focused exclusively on Latin America and Emerging Markets. As a leader of these three “buy-side” firms, Dr. Covo participated in both capital-raising and capital deployment. His focus on risk management helped to protect investor capital through the Asian Crisis of 1997, the subsequent Long Term Capital Management crash of 1998, as well as the recent Financial Crisis of 2008.
Previously, Dr. Covo worked at Merrill Lynch from 1989 to 1995, where he ran the Latin America Corporate Finance group and built the industry-leading Emerging Markets Capital Markets group. During his tenure at Merrill Lynch, the firm became the market leader for Latin American corporate and sovereign transactions, being distinguished for opening new markets using an innovative style, as well as closing a large number of deals. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Dr. Covo worked at Bankers Trust Company of New York from 1985 to 1989 as Vice President in the Latin American Merchant Banking Group. Dr. Covo began his career as an International Economist for Chase Econometrics from 1984 to 1985, focusing on Venezuela and Colombia.

Mark Sanor has over 20 years of experience in private equity investing and banking. Trained as a lawyer and an investment banker, focused on both raising capital and on direct investments on behalf of family offices. Mark has a unique global network that includes over 150 family offices and spans many industries and touches over 500 private equity funds. He also is well-versed in the public capital markets having joined Edgewood in its investment into MLV & Co, where he co-led merchant banking and principal investment affiliate, launched the Transportation sector in public capital markets and coordinated private placements in other industries. Mark worked in Russia/CIS from 1996 to 2004 where he was a Partner with Arthur Andersen and then Ernst & Young co-leading Transaction Advisory Services for 10 countries based in Moscow. On moving back to New York in 2004 Mark founded Chiron Partners, a family office-anchored merchant bank that originated and co-invested in deals with private equity funds, and advised family offices to optimize their private investments. Mark has advised on hundreds of deals globally with aggregate value over $10 billion in energy, industrials, and transportation as well as consumer and TMT. - Andrew Malloy
Mr. Malloy is an Executive Producer at Quixotic Endeavors, a production company which creates feature films, documentaries, stage musicals, plays and books, and a Managing Director of Monument Capital Group, LLC. He has 30 years of experience in alternative investments, and the family office and wealth management industries. Prior to joining Monument, Mr. Malloy served as a Managing Director and Principal of two multi-family offices firms: New York-based Massey Quick & Co., Inc., and Boston-based Shepherd Kaplan LLC.
In addition, Mr. Malloy was an initial investor in, and the Director of Business Strategy & Development for, WisdomTree Asset Management, Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer at TAG Associates, Senior Vice President of Oppenheimer & Co., and a member of Bear, Stearns & Co.’s Corporate and Executive Services Group. Before beginning his career on Wall Street, Mr. Malloy spent seven years working in his family’s luxury retail business, Bergdorf Goodman. Today, Mr. Malloy sits on the Boards of Alpha Finance Technologies LLC, Blue Calypso, Inc., Circle Peak Capital LLC, Pacific Capital Partners, and VII Peaks Capital LLC. He also sits on the National Board of Trustees of National Jewish Health. Mr. Malloy attended Villanova University and Harvard Business School’s Executive MBA program.
- Rudolph Waels
RUDOLPH WAELS
Rudolph Waels has worked in Europe and various Emerging Markets since 1996. He started his career with Arthur Andersen/Ernst & Young where he carried out various consulting, privatization, and restructuring projects across the world including Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia. Starting in 2004, he focused on private equity and direct investments in the Middle East and North Africa. He worked at Swicorp (Vice President), First Gulf Bank (Head of Private Equity), Aabar (Director of Investments), Armalia Partners (Managing Partner), ICD (Head of Direct Investments & Financing), and Excess Investments (CEO). Rudolph holds an MBA from the Wharton School, and is also a graduate of Paris Dauphine University. He studied in Europe (France, United Kingdom, Spain), Latin America (Argentina, Mexico), Asia (Singapore) and the United States. He speaks English, French, Spanish fluently, and is learning Arabic.

DR. MARIO COVO
Dr. Mario Covo is a Senior Advisor with over 30 years of experience conducting business in Latin America and two decades managing investment firms.
Dr. Covo has served as a Director of the Board of Bladex since 1999 and as Chairman of Bladex Asset Management Inc. since its inception in 2008. Bladex is an NYSE-listed supranational bank established by the central banks of Latin America to promote trade finance. Based in Panama, its shareholders include international institutional investors as well as Central Banks and state-owned entities from 23 Latin American countries. Dr. Covo presently chairs the Credit Committee, has chaired the Asset/Liability Committee and has been a member of the Audit, Compensation and Nomination, and Business Committees. Bladex’s Board is comprised of Latin American CEO’s and high level government officials. Following a decade-long stint on Wall Street, Dr. Covo founded and managed three Investment Advisory businesses. He is presently the Managing Partner of Helios Advisors, which he co-founded in 2003; was founder, CEO, and Chairman of Finaccess International, Inc. in 2000; and was co-founder of Columbus Advisors in 1995. The latter two firms were focused exclusively on Latin America and Emerging Markets. As a leader of these three “buy-side” firms, Dr. Covo participated in both capital-raising and capital deployment. His focus on risk management helped to protect investor capital through the Asian Crisis of 1997, the subsequent Long Term Capital Management crash of 1998, as well as the recent Financial Crisis of 2008.
Previously, Dr. Covo worked at Merrill Lynch from 1989 to 1995, where he ran the Latin America Corporate Finance group and built the industry-leading Emerging Markets Capital Markets group. During his tenure at Merrill Lynch, the firm became the market leader for Latin American corporate and sovereign transactions, being distinguished for opening new markets using an innovative style, as well as closing a large number of deals. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Dr. Covo worked at Bankers Trust Company of New York from 1985 to 1989 as Vice President in the Latin American Merchant Banking Group. Dr. Covo began his career as an International Economist for Chase Econometrics from 1984 to 1985, focusing on Venezuela and Colombia.
Dr. Covo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Rice University and a B.A. with honors from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico. Dr. Covo is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and conversational in French.

MARK SANOR
Mark Sanor has over 20 years of experience in private equity investing and banking. Trained as a lawyer and an investment banker, focused on both raising capital and on direct investments on behalf of family offices. Mark has a unique global network that includes over 150 family offices and spans many industries and touches over 500 private equity funds. He also is well-versed in the public capital markets having joined Edgewood in its investment into MLV & Co, where he co-led merchant banking and principal investment affiliate, launched the Transportation sector in public capital markets and coordinated private placements in other industries. Mark worked in Russia/CIS from 1996 to 2004 where he was a Partner with Arthur Andersen and then Ernst & Young co-leading Transaction Advisory Services for 10 countries based in Moscow. On moving back to New York in 2004 Mark founded Chiron Partners, a family office-anchored merchant bank that originated and co-invested in deals with private equity funds, and advised family offices to optimize their private investments. Mark has advised on hundreds of deals globally with aggregate value over $10 billion in energy, industrials, and transportation as well as consumer and TMT. Mark holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School (’93, Bates Scholar) and a B.A. from Denison University (’90, Presidential Medalist). He is fluent in Russian and conversant in French.

LOUIS SCHMITLIN
Louis is a Private Equity investment professional based in NYC. Originally from France, after a stint with the Air Force Cadets, he started his career as a strategy consultant with Booz&Co in Europe, before switching to the buy-side in the U.S., most recently working in the private equity direct team at CDPQ, a $300Bn AUM pension fund, with $30Bn allocated to Private Equity. There, he assessed and monitored various investments across industries including Consumer, Retail, Industrials, and Business Services. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and two masters in Electrical engineering and Business from CentraleSupelec and ESCP Europe. He speaks English and French fluently and used to speak Spanish and Russian.
